It’s safe to say that the holidays are going to look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still plan an amazing day (or days) of food for your immediate family! Pure Flavor® is here to help with some helpful meal ideas that you may not have thought of before.
The holidays are almost upon us and with all the hustle and bustle of the season, you definitely don’t want to leave planning your holiday meals to the last minute! Have no fear, if you’re stuck in a rut with the same old holiday meal ideas and you’re looking for something different and interesting, but nonetheless festive, you’ve come to the right place.
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we couldn’t agree more! The key is to make sure you use fresh ingredients and incorporate some veggies into the mix. Christmas mornings can be hectic, but with a little bit of planning, you can surprise and delight your family with an amazing breakfast spread.
Our first super simple recipe is this delicious Fresh Breakfast Sandwich. It features our award-winning Tomatoes On-the-Vine that infuse this sandwich with unmistakably fresh flavor. They are high in iron, cholesterol free and are a good source of potassium.
Paired with some fresh fruit and a quality cup of coffee, it’s a very satisfying way to fuel up after opening presents on Christmas morning.
It’s such a simple meal to put together. We purchased premade, savory biscuits (but scones will do too) and built it with some eggs, back bacon (that cooks up quickly with less mess than traditional bacon), sliced cheddar cheese, avocado and our amazing tomatoes. But that’s not all! We made an incredible honey mustard butter to tie all of the flavors together.
If you’re a little more adventurous, you’ll want to check out our Mexican Chilaquiles recipe! This dish is one of the most popular breakfast dishes in Mexico. It’s full of delicious flavors and fresh veggies to start Christmas Day off right!
Featuring our Stingrays Multi-Colored Hot Peppers and Tomatoes On-the-Vine, this dish has a bit of a kick to it. Made with corn tortilla chips, eggs, cheese and homemade pico de gallo, you can’t go wrong serving this to your family.
This is another dish that is easy to put together, you simply scramble some eggs, put them over the tortilla chips, generously add shredded cheese and put it under the broiler. Once it’s ready to be served, top with the pico de gallo, some sour cream, avocado and if you’re like us, extra hot peppers!
We understand that there are some traditions that go hand-in-hand with the holidays, such as turkey or ham and we don’t want to mess with that. What we do know is that sometimes you need to shake it up in the side dish department! That is why we have put together some incredible salads that not only stand up on their own but also pair well with those traditional main staples.
This Roasted Veggie Salad is one for the books. It features our Craft House Aurora Long Sweet Peppers and is full of fresh flavors. Not only is it flavorful, but it has vibrant, festive colors that will brighten up the dinner table.
Our Craft House Aurora Long Sweet Peppers will take this dish to new heights. Crafted with care, let the sweet artistry of these long, sweet peppers take you back to a simpler time. They are truly a flavor to discover.
This salad is super easy to prepare, you just roast some peppers, butternut squash, and brussels sprouts together. While they are roasting, you make the dressing out of avocado, olive oil, and fresh lime. The roasted veggies are served over a bed of fresh greens and then the dressing is drizzled over top.
If brussels sprouts or butternut squash aren’t your thing, we have this delicious Roasted Red Pepper Salad for you. Featuring our Craft House Shishito Peppers and our Craft House Aurora Long Sweet Peppers, it’s the perfect side dish for the holidays. The colors, textures, and a little kick of spiciness are a feast for the eyes and the senses.
Grown for the chef in you, our Craft House Shishito Peppers are savory with an elusive spark of lively heat. Their enticing flavor and captivating bite dazzle in this salad. Combined with the saltiness of really good quality olive, the crunchiness of freshly cracked walnuts, and an assortment of savory herbs, it is all brought together with a pomegranate molasses to round out the flavor profile. The main thing about the holidays is that you are spending time as a family. Building bonds with family by sharing a meal can be as health-promoting as the fresh vegetables we grow all year long! We hope that these healthy, delectable recipes will help you achieve that.
